Out of all the cosmetic dental procedures available in today’s world, one of the simplest yet most effective ones is teeth whitening. It is the subtle art of getting rid of the stains from the teeth surfaces to give you a sparkling white smile. When you wish to get your teeth whitened, you may visit our dental practice, and we will suggest the most suitable method based on your candidacy.

What is in-office whitening?

In-office or conventional teeth whitening is the simplest means of bleaching the teeth. It has been used for many years now, making it the most widely preferred procedure. During this process, the dentist will thoroughly screen your mouth for various factors that could affect your eligibility for the whitening process. Some of them are receding gum line, gum disease, cavities, broken or damaged teeth, presence of dental restorations on the teeth, etc. The dentist will determine if you qualify for teeth whitening based on these observations.

The teeth would be cleaned thoroughly to remove the microbial deposits and food residues. Then, the whitening gel would be applied to the teeth and spread evenly. This ensures each tooth is uniformly coated, thus producing a consistent level of whitening. The gel will then be allowed to stay on the teeth surfaces for a few minutes, during which it would release oxygen molecules. These molecules would enter the porous surface of the enamel and bleach the staining particles lodged in them, leaving you with whiter teeth. The gel will then be rinsed off. This procedure may be repeated as many times as needed based on the severity of your condition.

What are take-home whitening kits?

Customized whitening kits are more convenient ways to whiten the teeth. When you visit us for the initial consultation, we will scan the teeth and use the data as a reference for fabricating whitening trays from dental-grade plastic. The trays will then be handed to you along with a prescribed whitening gel, which you can take home and use at your convenience.

The whitening trays are convenient to use. First, clean your teeth thoroughly. Then, squeeze a small amount of whitening gel onto the trays and spread it evenly. Place the trays on your teeth and allow them to stay on for a few minutes. After that time, you can take them off, rinse your mouth with water, and repeat the procedure if required.
